DOJ Says President Biden’s Brother James Biden’s Associate Conspired With Mafioso To Defraud Medicare

On Friday, a Justice Department filing accused James Biden’s associate, Keaton Langston of conspiring with a criminal mafia family to defraud Medicare. In federal court in New Jersey, Prosecutors say that Mississippi businessman, Keaton Langston, who is also the associate of President Joe Biden’s brother James Biden, conspired alongside an alleged member of the Colombo crime family to defraud Medicare.

The government’s accusation is likely to intensify scrutiny on James Biden and perhaps President Joe Biden. The Department of Justice DOJ names Keaton Langston as co-conspirator in the ongoing Medicare fraud case. Weeks before, the congressional investigators questioned James Biden about his relationship with Keaton Langston.

The DOJ filings target the ‘Americore’ deal in which the SEC accused an Americore’s hospital in Pennsylvania of being part of a scheme to defraud Medicare. Both James Biden and his associate, Langston, were involved with Americore. Politico reported in one of its news articles:

“In September, the Securities and Exchange Commission accused one of Jim Biden’s business partners of fraud related to loans to the company, allegations the business partner has denied.

Meanwhile, the Justice Department found that Americore’s hospital in Pennsylvania entered into sham service agreements and paid kickbacks as part of a scheme that billed the government for medically unnecessary lab tests the hospital shipped out to be performed elsewhere.

Those actions are at the center of a federal prosecution of a $100 million conspiracy to defraud Medicare that has netted a guilty plea from the recipient of the kickbacks, and, according to a person familiar with the case, remains ongoing.”

Previously James Biden has distanced himself from Keaton Langston, claiming that he had no business dealings of any kind with Langston and no role in the scheme.

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer said in October:

“In 2018, James Biden received $600,000 in loans from, Americore — a financially distressed and failing rural hospital operator. According to bankruptcy court documents, James Biden received these loans “based upon representations that his last name, ‘Biden,’ could ‘open doors’ and that he could obtain a large investment from the Middle East based on his political connections.”

On March 1, 2018, Americore wired a $200,000 loan into James and Sara Biden’s personal bank account — not their business bank account. And then on the very same day, James Biden wrote a $200,000 check from this same personal bank account to Joe Biden.

James Biden wrote this check to Joe Biden as a “loan repayment.” Americore — a distressed company — loaned money to James Biden who then sent it to Joe Biden. Even if this was a personal loan repayment, it’s still troubling that Joe Biden’s ability to be paid back by his brother depended on the success of his family’s shady financial dealings.”

James Biden rejected that he gave $200,000 check he gave to Joe Biden was due to a business dealing. He claimed that he gave back this money to Joe Biden because he lent it to him previously.

According to an investigation carried out by Politico, James Biden used his brother’s name, President Joe Biden, to promote the Americore deal. James Biden has been involved with the hospital chain since the May 2017 meeting, in which he also met Langston’s father, Joey Langston.

Both Keaton Langston and James Biden worked with the company, which at its peak operated several hospitals across the eastern half of the United States. James Biden helped Americore to gain regulatory approval to acquire a hospital in Pennsylvania and then raised money for it from overseas investors.

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer said that the impeachment inquiry can produce criminal references to the Department of Justice. However, he didn’t name any specific individuals.
